Virtual Gel Bench
Render fragments as bands on an agarose gel before running the real one. Lanes accept the output of a restriction digest or a linearised plasmid, the percentage is adjustable, and the ladders are real molecular-weight standards rather than drawn approximations.
Phage λ plus five plasmids from 2.2 to 7.3 kb: run the λ/HindIII marker you build from its own sequence, beside real digests at an adjustable agarose percentage
What it does
- 01Multiple lanes, each holding its own fragment set
- 02Adjustable agarose percentage
- 03Real molecular-weight ladders as reference lanes
- 04Bands taken from a restriction digest, or from a plasmid loaded as supercoiled
- 05Fragment lengths readable per band
What it runs on
Migration follows a published log-linear mobility law, golden-validated against the reference implementation rather than fitted to look right. The panel runs on @ports/gel.
Everything runs client-side. Files are parsed in the browser and projects are saved on this machine, so an unpublished sequence is never uploaded.
Questions
- Where do the bands come from?
- From a real digest of the open sequence, or from the plasmid itself when loaded as an uncut molecule. The lengths are computed, not drawn by hand.
